After learning about CrossFit in November of 2007, I was hooked and shortly after that became a co-owner of CrossFit PEI. The initial CrossFit workouts were humbling but I began to see results in a very short period of time. I found that the the efficiency and effectiveness of the programming allowed for greater gains in strength, endurance and overall fitness in a shorter period of time. On top of that, it is a great community – I have never met a more supportive group of competitive people in my life.

I have been doing Taekwondo since 1987 and am a Sixth Degree Black Belt Master. I have taken a number of National Coaching Certification Program courses for both coaching and general instruction of adults and children. I am also a certified Level 1 Snowboard Instructor with the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors.

My name is Brett Roberts and I want to welcome you to CrossFit 782.

I have been coaching and doing CrossFit since 2011. I started working with Reebok CrossFit Sentinel in Korea running a CrossFit youth program.

In 2014 I moved home to the Island and that summer Mike and I opened CrossFit 782. Ever since I have been training, coaching, and living the dream here at 782. CrossFit has helped me deliver my passion and purpose of connecting people and helping people improve their physical and mental well being.

I hold two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education. The combination of these two have given me the tools to deliver training programs to help you reach your health and fitness goals. I look forward to working with you to help your achieve these goals.

See you at 782!

I started CrossFit in February 2008 with an eye to improving my overall fitness and to find a way to keep up my “gym” motivation which I had only ever been able to find for short periods in my 30's. While previously I had shunned team situations or group fitness classes, now I was hooked on sharing these workouts with the rest of the group. I found that pushing myself and encouraging others to do the same in developing new skills and finding new strengths was an intoxicating experience.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend some CrossFit courses in gymnastics and olympic lifting. When I finally got the chance to attend my Level 1 course in 2015 I was all set to help others in their CrossFit journey. The past three years have been an amazing experience. I understand only too well the struggle to learn/master many of the movements in the gym. They do not come easily to me either. I also know the joy it brings to surpass your limitations and achieve your goals. Coaching CrossFit gives me the opportunity to be a part of other people finding that joy, and I love it.

I joined the Crossfit 782 community back in 2014 . I have always been involved in playing sports and loved the thrill of learning something new in my training. While in University I had the opportunity to play on the women’s varsity rugby team.  After finishing up with rugby I was lost in how to make exercise fun again. Going to a regular gym didn’t intrigue me. So from there I tried out CrossFit and it grabbed my attention. I finally had found something that kept working out fun and I loved watching myself get stronger. The best part about it was the community. In 2016 I decided I wanted to take my love for CrossFit a little further into getting my Level 1.

Hannah Ives

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Growing up as a competitor in Taekwondo, I began CrossFit in the teens program as a supplementation to my existing training. In 2013 I decided to start competing in CrossFit as well, and continued to do both sports until 2015 when an injury turned my focus to only CrossFit.

Coaching was something I had wanted to do for a long time, and once I turned 17, I attended my Level 1 Seminar. When I graduated High School I decided to continue pursuing my love of teaching others in the realm of fitness and health, and am currently working on a double major at UPEI in Kinesiology and Foods & Nutrition.

I have a true passion for CrossFit, and am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work with every person that walks in the doors at 782.

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

I started CrossFit in 2013 with CrossFit PEI, and joined CrossFit 782 in 2014.  I grew up playing a variety of sports on the Island, including basketball with UPEI.

I joined CrossFit when it became difficult to find the motivation to train after a couple years of lifting weights.   I loved the coaches and community, and got my L1 Coaching in December 2016. I really enjoy helping people improve their technique and achieve their goals.

I’ve always been a competitive person, so I was immediately drawn to the sport side of CrossFit, which has lead to me programming and coaching our competitive classes at 782.  I look forward to getting the best out of myself and helping others do the same.

While I may be the “Newbie” to the coaching staff at Crossfit 782 I have been an athlete and member here since 2017.  The 782 community has been so encouraging as I turn from athlete/member to athlete/coach. I owe much of my success to Crossfit and 782; I walked through the door not knowing what to expect and have been humbled everyday since.

Being a “bit” competitive myself, I revel in finding that edge in other athletes that they might not know they even had. Since starting Crossfit, I have competed in several Rx’d comps on the Island and with my background in many team sports, I know a little push can go along way. I want to encourage, support and give determination to everyone who walks through that door at 782, like I have had since day one.

When I am not at CF782, you can find me in a paramedic uniform working for Island EMS. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Studies, UNB, a Diploma in Adventure Recreation and Tourism, NBCC and a Diploma through the Primary Care Paramedic Program, Atlantic Paramedic Academy.

Come share my enthusiasm, and love for 782. I’ll be there with a snapback on and coffee in hand.

“Intensely relaxed” – Brett Roberts
